The Alabama Trucking Association's Safety & Maintenance Management Council gathered in March to honor some of the state's safest fleets, drivers and managers at the group's annual Fleet Safety Awards. The big winner this year was Driver of the Year Jim Deloney of Greatwide Dedicated Transport.
The Alabama Trucking Association gathered at Destin this past spring to celebrate and prepare for the industry's future. The event raised a record $112,000, with more than 135 companies donating cash, and even more sending representatives to the event.
More than 100 drivers representing 21 Alabama trucking companies competed in the two-day event that showcases the state's best drivers. Wal-Mart's Darryl Dodd scored 347 to win grand champion honors.
