17 CVSN INSIDER May 2009 Welcome to the inaugural edition of the CVSN Insider. The start of something new a new job, a new relationship, a new publication is a time of excitement, as well as an opportunity to look to the future with great anticipation. As a vital industry association, CVSN is a trusted forum for communication, information, and growth. It plays a key role in unifying the voice of the independent aftermarket channel and strengthening the relationships between distributors and key supplier partners, such as Bendix CVS. With the launch of this newsletter, I am re-minded of a quote by noted American author, Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., who said, The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. By fostering communication and collaboration, CVSN is a resource that can help all of us move in a positive direction developing effective, efficient solutions for the challenges of today and the needs of tomorrow. For over 75 years, Bendix has been a pioneer in the commercial vehicle industry. We are an organization deeply committed to helping our customers succeed. Many of you know us to be the leading sup-plier of air brake components such as valves, compressors, and air dryers. However, our future goes well beyond the legacy that has led us to this point. At Bendix, we remain focused on developing and delivering products that improve safety on the road, and drive overall improved profitabil-ity for the complete supply chain. The past five years have brought about a number of strategic business moves, which have had a positive and permanent impact on our operations. From the formation of Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC our joint venture focused on delivering complete wheel end solutions to our recent acquisition of integrated electronics technolo-gies, such as SmartWave tire pressure moni-toring system and VORAD collision warning system, we remain committed to providing the most beneficial solutions to the trucking indus-try's evolving needs. Increasing our content on OE production pro-vides our aftermarket partners the members of CVSN greater opportunity to participate in the service replacement of those compo-nents and systems. The long standing relation-ships that we have forged with our distributor partners are a testament to our commitment to world class quality, impeccable customer ser-vice, and unwavering support. While we battle today's unprecedented eco-nomic challenges a period that has had such a profound impact on our industry we be-lieve this environment is truly an opportunity for all of us. It is a time to further strengthen our customer relationships, to invest in our op-erations, and to enhance our product and tech-nology line-ups so that we can all emerge from this recession even stronger and more com-petitive.
